Terms

Vessel is in private beta, built and run out of New York. These terms are short and in plain English, because terms you cannot read are not terms you have agreed to.
The short version
- It is early software and it will have rough edges. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
- The record is yours. Leave whenever you like and take it with you, or have it deleted.
- You are the project manager. Vessel drafts; you read it before it goes out over your name.
What Vessel is
Field software for the person actually running the job. You walk the site, sit the meeting, take the call — Vessel keeps the record, the open items and the document that comes out of it.
Using it means agreeing to what is on this page, and to the privacy page, which is the more important of the two.
The beta
- Through TestFlight. Vessel is not on the App Store yet. Access comes through Apple's TestFlight, which has its own terms with Apple.
- It will break sometimes. When it does, write to hello@walkvessel.com and it gets fixed — usually that night. That is the deal in a beta: you get it early and cheap, and in exchange you tell the truth about what is wrong with it.
- Things will change. Screens move, features arrive, some get cut. You will not wake up to a changed price without hearing it first.
- Keep your own copies. Your phone holds the record and the server holds a copy, but this is beta software from a small shop and it would be dishonest to tell you to rely on it as your only archive.
What it costs
- $249 a month, per company.
- Everyone at the company is included, every job, no seats, no contract. Adding your superintendent or your project manager never costs more.
- New York sales tax is added to the invoice.
- Anyone you send a document to reads it free, forever. Your client, your architect, anyone outside the company. They need no app, no account and no invitation.
Refunds
Once a month has started, that month is not refunded. If you cancel, you keep access through the end of it.
If the price changes
If the price ever changes, Vessel will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, so you can cancel first if you want to.
What you are responsible for
- The record. What goes into it, whether it is accurate, and who you send it to.
- The documents you issue. Vessel writes the draft; you are the PM. Read it before it leaves — it goes out over your name, to your client.
- What you photograph. You capture work, and sometimes people, on someone else's property. Your contract and your client's site rules govern whether you may — not this app.
- Keeping your phone and your access to it secure. There is no password to reset, so the phone is the key.
- Not using Vessel to break the law, or to hold material you have no right to hold.
What Vessel is responsible for
- Keeping it running, and keeping your record where you put it.
- Saying honestly what the app does and does not do — including when a feature is not finished.
- Not selling your data, not advertising to you, and not reading your jobs for our own purposes. The detail is on the privacy page.
- Answering you. There is no support queue; the address on this page reaches a person.
What cannot be promised
Vessel is provided as it is. There is no guarantee that it never goes down, never loses anything, or fits the particular way your job runs. It is early software from a one-person shop, and pretending otherwise would be the kind of claim this whole product is built against.
To the extent the law allows, liability for any loss arising from using Vessel is limited to what you have paid for it — which, during the beta, is nothing. Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending it
You: stop whenever you like. Write to hello@walkvessel.com and it stops at the end of the month you paid for. You keep full access until then and are not charged again. Delete the app, and ask for your record to be exported or deleted — see the privacy page for how deletion actually works.
Us: access can be ended if Vessel is being used to break the law or to harm someone. You would hear it from a person, with a reason, and with a chance to get your record out.
If these terms change
The date at the top changes, and anyone using Vessel is told directly. No quiet edits.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts sitting in New York County.
